The Weekender – 10 Outdoor Spots Under the Sun

There’s nothing like a little sun to cure your cabin fever, and lucky for us we’re going to have good rays this week! With spring fast approaching, and the warm temperature heating up the atmosphere, outdoor patios are a go-to destination to soak up some Vitamin D. Here are a few of our picks the next time you feel the itch to get out of the indoors and relish in the light of the sun!

Vivid Boulevard

Colorful, musically inspired and in the heart of Amman’s Boulevard, Vivid is a local favorite for those with a love for rooftops. With an amazing view of the city, you’ll feel like you’re on top of the world. The native feel of this lounge and international menu will cater to your liking, wherever your tastes may fall.

Shams El Balad

Shams El Balad is a celebration of everything local. If you want to feel like you’re sitting on the terrace of your grandfather’s house, overlooking the Citadel and Ummayad Palace, then this downtown locale is for you. As a bonus, you’ll be feeding the grassroots cafe’s mission to support local craft, produce and culture.

Wild Jordan Center

If you’re into nature, eco-friendly and love to support conservation efforts, then look no further than Wild Jordan. This nature-inspired, ethically developed center is part of the Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature. Beautifully up-cycled and showcasing local products, anything you spend here will go to protect Jordan’s natural heritage. Plus, it doesn’t hurt that the view from their outdoor terrace is breathtaking.

Rumi

Wood chairs, a secluded nook and a crowd that exudes positivity…what more can you want from an outdoor sitting area? Rumi is located on one of the main streets in Jabal Al Weibdeh, and is the epitome of warm and welcoming! You’ll feel like you’re not even in Amman. With delicious treats and drinks, Rumi is perfect for a cup of tea to cool down in the breeze as you enjoy good company and good vibes.
 

Casper & Gambini’s 

This international chain has 37 locations in MENA for a reason. Located in the heart of Abdoun, Casper & Gambini’s is a modern, up-scale cafe with open floors and a great outdoor terrace. Perfect for brunching with your girlfriends or catching up with the guys, you’ll find the atmosphere made for conversations under the sun.

Little Italy Pizzeria 

When in Rome, do as the Romans do right? So maybe going to Rome itself is a stretch for outdoor seating, but Little Italy Pizzeria is close enough! Their newest location in Abdoun is a perfectly shaded outdoor space that’ll infuse viva into you! The hip outdoor area is complimented by a DJ that spins great tunes. If you want to listen to music and have a few cocktails with friends, this is an option. With authentic homemade Italian recipes, this spot is as fresh as their ingredients.

This quaint little corner cafe in Jabal Al Weibdeh boasts funky colors and fun designs sure to get you in the moving-mood. Gone are the grey days of winter. So head over to Kepi for warm yellow walls and creative art that will inspire you to let go, and enjoy the end of winter-times. This family-oriented restaurant is a perfect spot to take the kids for an afternoon meal sans technologie.
 

Thai Room 

Excite your senses with some Far Eastern spices. Engage your tastebuds as you delight in authentic Thai dishes in fresh open air and bloom into spring. Next time you’re in Abdoun, make a stop, grab a drink, pull up a chair and go on a journey at Thai Room. A journey of passionate food, in a wonderful, otherworldly atmosphere.

 Joz Hind

Joz Hind is the definition of coziness. Sit outdoors, and enjoy this small, family-run kitchen in Jabal Weibdeh. Hind, and her Italian chef husband Luca make sure their food is socially-responsible and healthy. Plus, it’s all made fresh daily for lunch and dinner, so you’ll have lots of variety!

Primal Restaurant

If the sun is reminding you that summer is fast approaching and you’re scrambling to get in shape, head over to Primal Restaurant. Not only is this the first and only Paleo restaurant in Amman, their outdoor space in Abdoun is just going to add to the freshness of the whole experience. Fresh air, fresh food, fresh ingredients…what more can one want these days?
