Over the past year, new organic farmers’ markets and specialty stores have been opening up in Amman, promoting sustainable development and organic produce. If you don’t know where to begin when it comes to making healthy choices, you’ve come to the right place. With the help of the Tip n’ Tag Team, you’ll be eating and living right in no time!



 Jabbok Farms, sources produce from across Jordan in Birien, Jerash and near the Dead Sea. Their produce is 100% organic, GMO-Free, hormone-free, chemical-free, grown from ancient original seeds and outdoor earth-planted produce. Since their farms are far for most, they deliver boxes of what they have in season twice a week. Yanboot is a one-of-a-kind farmer’s market in Amman that offers alternatives to conventional agriculture and food production. Food is grown organically and produced locally with natural and healthy products. What makes Yanboot special is the weekly brunch buffet they host on Fridays at Società Dante Alighieri in Weibdeh and Saturdays at their main branch in Dabouq. What started out as a dream for a few local women from Ajloun was realized through their relentless hard work and perseverance. The group of ladies established Al-Kifah Society, which gave life to the Al Yasmin Organic Farms project. The initiative’s main objective is to revive an almost extinct range of traditional agricultural produce; mainly aromatic and medicinal herbs. Today, Twenty-five farms operate together harvesting a range of organic produce that includes herbs, vegetables, fruits, olive oil, beans, chicken, and eggs. You can find “Souq Al Shams “ every Saturday at the Investment Bank park between 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. or you can subscribe to their weekly organic fruit and vegetable baskets delivered to your doorstep. 


Nour Al Barakah, a unique organization, with a dual mission: creating awareness for both the environment and those with mental disabilities. The organization does this by hosting a farmer’s market featuring several vendors selling local goods. You can expect to find all-organic produce, chemical-free cosmetics and soaps, and even homemade goodies when checking out Nour Al Barakah. The added benefit of shopping at Nour Al Barakah is that the market provides young adults with intellectual disabilities an opportunity to mingle with peers in a safe, recreational and structured environment. You can find this socially aware farmer’s market at Princess Iman Garden, in Rabiyeh every Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.


Mazraati is a new concept farm for Jordan, completely open to the public providing organic, pesticide-free, fresh fruits and vegetables where visitors can try the food made fresh from the farm’s produce. Beat The Wheat is a gem among other bakeries in Amman. The bakery, unlike most, offers goodies for those that can’t tolerate gluten in their systems. Their products are gluten-free, vegan (dairy free, casein-free, and egg-free), are low on cholesterol, carbs and sugar. Their aim is to promote gluten-free products and a healthy lifestyle to those with celiac disease, gluten intolerance and wheat allergies.


Foron Rex offers a variety of bread and baked goods that are not readily found in Amman, including baguettes, croissants, ciabattas, and sourdoughs baked fresh daily. Instead of using processed ingredients, they use naturally grown yeast and Jordanian grown wheat, which is milled in Madaba and sent daily to the bakery. They even choose to use non-GMO flour! This bakery is determined to keep it all-natural!



This is a small shop but big on what it has to offer. One of the greatest facets of Green Shop is that you can find organic goods that you won’t usually find anywhere else, even at farmer’s markets. From tofu, toothpaste, rice and muesli to coconut oil, chocolate, pasta and dried fruits, Green Shop has it all in organic variations. If you wanna keep it 100% natural, then give this shop a visit.


Select Foods Shoppe may not be 100% organic, but it does cater to different niche diets and offers products from all over the globe that you wouldn’t find anywhere else in Amman. What makes the store special is the deli they have, which offers vegan cheese and a wide range of hard to find cold cuts. The store also has a great collection of vegan products, gluten-free products, and even non-dairy ice cream!



 A local store that supports locally grown produce, Namliyeh are designers and jam makers that create handmade artisan jams by transforming locally grown, farm fresh fruits into delicious preserves. All their jams are 100% natural, low in sugar and carefully processed to extract the natural flavors and sugars, already found in fruits, with no additives whatsoever. Mistaka is “all your cheese-related” dreams coming to life! By using sheep’s milk from local Jordanian sheep, the result is a selection of exquisite fresh and aged artisan cheese. Mistaka has 4 different lines to choose from: the Whites featuring yogurts, ricotta, labaneh, and halloumi, the Golds featuring hard cheeses typically found in Europe, the Soft-Ripened which uses moulds to ripen the cheese, and the Badia which uses local pastoral traditions that creates jameed, cultured butter, and ghee.
