The Weekender – 🏄‍♂️ 15 Staycation Activities Around Jordan

Now that Eid is around the corner, and a traditional vacation isn’t in the cards, our Tip n’ Tag team has gathered the most fun activities for you to add to your bucket list. This way, you’ll return to your office a different person. So put away your passports, and spend a fun staycation Jordan style!

Yup.WATERPARK! Saraya Aqaba Waterpark is the first waterpark and the largest to open its doors in the Kingdom. For the ultimate fun summer experience, pay a visit to this ideal entertainment destination. Lay down and enjoy the slow-moving “lazy river” after raising your adrenaline levels sliding down their 25 waterslides.

Tip: Wear sunscreen, your skin will thank you.

One of the best things to do in Aqaba is…WATERSPORTS. Head to Tala Bay’s Beach Club and choose whatever watersport that tickles your interest. When it comes to thrill, Aqaba has it all from kayaking, wakesurfing and parasailing, to kite surfing and snorkeling with friends. The options are endless.

Tip: The earlier you go, the less you’ll have to wait in line for your turn.

See everything underwater from a glass-floored submarine without getting wet! The Neptune Submarine carries you from Tala Bay to the Red Ocean reef where you’ll see exotic fish in their natural environment, and coral developments at the World War II Lord Abdallah Tank, the C-130 Plane wreck and The Cedar wreck. Expect excellent food and drinks, and plenty of dancing to upbeat tunes.

Tip: Book your spot ahead of time to avoid disappointment.

Explore life under the sea and set yourself up for an unforgettable underwater adventure. Visit the fascinating underwater world’s main attractions and hang with the fish and other marine life. The Deep Blue Dive Center in Tala Bay offers a wide range of diving packages and tours for first timer’s, beginners and skilled divers alike. They also offer night dives for the more adventurous!

Tip: While you’re down there, ask the staff to snap a picture of you underwater.

Walk down avid mountains, slide on rocks, float on streams, and shower under one of the gushing waterfalls that will surely wake you up better than any large cup of coffee can. This nature reserve that counts as the world’s lowest serves as an excellent terrain for some dramatic canyoning.

Tip: Afterwards, head to Ma’in Hot Springs that’s not far away, and treat yourself to a thermal treatment in a tranquil oasis.

The fun begins where the tarred road ends. Looking to explore the Dead Sea on an ATV? Start your engines and embrace your wild side by heading off-road to discover the thrills of Dead Sea’s tracks.

Tip: Pick the trail’s difficulty level of your choice for an enjoyable ride.

Surf the sand deep in the Wadi Rum desert with Arabian Nights Rum. It may seem scary at first, but when you give it a go you’ll feel like you’re flying a magic carpet in the dazzling crescent valley.

Tip: Go early in the morning to avoid the hottest hours of the day and slide down the biggest sand dunes you can find!

For a once in a lifetime experience, with Wadi Rum Sky, you can spend a raw night under the stars with no amenities and a whole lotta adventure in the heart of the desert. Spend the night in a cave around the fire, sing songs and share stories.

Tip: Make sure you have a flashlight on you to see at night.

An ultimate adventure to have in the Mars of Jordan. Book a trip with Beyond Wadi Rum and climb Jordan’s tallest mountain Jabal Umm Ad Dami (1832m) all the way up to the top, where you’ll be greeted by the Jordanian flag and panoramic views of the rustic-colored Martian-like landscapes. You’ll truly feel like you’re on another planet.

Tip: Stay hydrated and wrap a hatta around your head to stay cool, fool.

The stars of Wadi Rum will not leave you indifferent. All you have to do is step out of your tent and stare at A Sky Full of Stars. There are guided tours that introduce you to the magnificent sky of the desert with detailed observations about the universe, planets and stars. If you’re more into “Glamping”, you can stargaze from a luxury bubble tent in SunCity Camp for a blend of adventure, wilderness, and luxury!

Tip: Walk away from the campsite to see the stars more clearly (hello…light pollution!).

If you’re an animal lover, Al Ma’wa for Nature and Wildlife rescue reserve that feels like a scene from the Lion King is a must-go.  Observe and interact with lions, bears, tigers, hyenas and many more wild animals in a 1-hour long guided tour and learn about their stories.

Tip: Ask about the animal’s names (they’re hilarious).

Say yes to adventure and fly over the greenest area in Jordan. The 330-meter zip line kicks off at the Royal Academy for Nature Conservation (RCSN), and goes through the scenic forests.

Tip: After a thrilling flight, take it all in while grabbing a bite and enjoying the view on the terrace of the Ajloun Forest Reserve Restaurant.

For the ultimate challenge, head to Rise Adventure Park in Ayla Aqaba for an all-out boot camp experience. This place is for fun adventure seekers and obstacle course lovers who are ready to climb, slide, swing, crawl, and fly!

Tip: Don’t skip the giant swing!

This getaway in Salt is the perfect spot for a heated paintball game. Gear up, gather up your soldiers and shoot while surrounded by stunning landscapes and mountain views.

Tip: Enjoy what the resort offers from quality lodging, an outdoor swimming pool, archery, and dining terraces.

Pamper yourself at Ayla’s golf course while surrounded by the spectacular scenery of the mountains. The tastefully man-made waterfronts and the modern serene clubhouse serve as the perfect setting for a relaxing spot to golf like a pro.

Tip: Grab a bite at their on-site restaurant Silica that overlooks the golf course.

Tipsters, staycation mode: ON!
