Tarabband is the creation of Iraqi musician Nadin Al Khalidi and Swedish musician Gabriel Hermansson, that is a cross-cultural collaboration to create Tarab. In Arabic, Tarab means “ecstasy through music”. That’s exactly what this 6-member band aims to deliver as they playing once again in Amman after winning Sweden’s Best Group prize at The World Music Awards 2017. If you can’t make it to the Tour De France, worry not because Le Tour De Oak is back! This project is an initiative collaboration promoting the new Bader region tourism. Bader village a.k.a ‘Oak Village’, is a beautiful region with perennial forests of Oak, refreshing nature, local culture and more. The aim is to preserve the Oak forests, an idea originally thought up by local young volunteers and activists in partnership with Jordanian environmental, sports and cultural organizations. ‘If You Meant to Kill Me’ Jordanian Documentary @ Shoman Foundation

The ever so wonderfully talented Widad Shafakoj is directing the much anticipated film, ‘If You Meant to Kill Me’. The documentary is part of the Nights of Arab Documentary Film screenings at the Shoman Foundation. The film follows the stories of three women detained in a Jordanian prison due to the lack of alternative facilities to protect women from honor killings. The film walks you through the story behind their lives and the reasons they were imprisoned. It highlights the misery and horror of their journey, featuring interviews with legal and human rights specialists that discuss what the future holds for these women. The fundraising charity is hosting this event to raise funds for Masarrah, an initiative that grants wishes children with incurable illnesses.
