Musical Evening: Jordanian Musicians and Orchestra @Odeon Theatre

As part of “The Musical Evenings” events happening in Downtown Amman, Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation presents a special concert by the Jordanian Musicians and Orchestra, at the Odeon Theater next to the Roman Theater. This special event will be featuring a string orchestra comprised of 25 independent musicians, accompanied by Nasser Salameh as the lead percussionist. The collaboration between some of the most renowned musical pioneers and young Jordanian musicians promises to be a night to remember! Interested in learning the Japanese art of paper folding? Origami is a beautiful ancient art, using a smart and inspired technique of folding paper! This workshop is under the direction of Ahmad Safi, the founder and managing director of the Jordan Origami Academy. The workshop is open to all ages and promises to introduce several shapes and ideas. There’ll also be a special focus on creating the beautiful coastal migratory bird called “heron”!
“Sidetracked” film screening @Instituto Cervantes

Sidetracked tells the story of a rural couple in crisis, who have a brother and sister with urban problems that they’re trying to find a solution to. The film’s original title is “Las Ovejas no Pierden el Tren“, directed by Álvaro Fernández-Armero. The film’s duration is 103 minutes and has English subtitles for all non-Spanish speaking viewers.
Indian Film “Court” @Abdul Hameed Shoman Foundation
July 26th at 6:30 p.m.
This 16 time award winning film “Court” talks about a sewerage worker’s dead body that has been found inside a manhole in Mumbai. An aging folk singer is tried in court on charges of abetment of suicide, he’s accused of performing an inflammatory song, which might have incited the worker to commit the act. The film follows the personal lives of the Judge, the Public Prosecutor and the defendant’s lawyer as the case meanders its way across months courtesy of numerous excuses and delays. The film is 116 minutes long and has English and Arabic subtitles.
