There must be something in the air because finding something to do is going to be the last problem you could have this week. We’ve got events galore for you this week! From documentary screenings and discussions, to thought-provoking art, a marathon, live music, crazy parties, fashion finds and more… there’s something for ever day of the week. So clear out your calendars and call your friends, this is going to be fun!

    

LG Dead Sea Ultra Marathon @ Dead Sea/Run Jordan 
Friday, April 14 @ 6:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Want to run for a cause? The Dead Sea Ultra Marathon hosted by Run Jordan is just the event for you. Created to promote athleticism among youth, encourage tourism in Jordan, promote athletic cooperation across the region, as well as the spirit of volunteerism are just a few causes for you to choose from. The marathon can be done as a 10-50 km race, with the option of a 7km run for kids. Register online or check out their event page for registration locations and more information!

ASF Spring Fever Pop Up Shop @ Zara Center
Wednesday-Friday, April 12 – 15 @ 12:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.

All you fashion-lovers out there know that there’s nothing like finding a pop-up shop with unique items. You also know that pop-up means temporary, so don’t miss your chance at this one! Amman Street Fashion is hosting their 4th Pop Up Shop from April 12th-15th. They’ll be showcasing items from retail shops and fashion designers, with items from home furniture, accessories, beauty products, paintings and art, and even food and beverages!

Jordan River Opening Exhibition @ Institut Français de Jordanie
Sunday, April 9 @ 7:00 p.m. 

If you’re looking to visually travel through time, look no further than the 6th Image Festival in Amman. The opening exhibition will showcase sixteen ancient photographs from École Biblique et Archéologique Française of Jerusalem. Illustrating the magnificent Jordan river, with black and white photographs from the 1920’s, and the oldest from the Ottoman period, around 1900. It’ll be a visual masterpiece for your sight and mind.

Metascape Exhibition Opening @ The Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts
Thursday, April 13 @ 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.

Meta-Scape is an inclusive collaborative exhibition of local, regional and international artists investigating the current ‘landscape’ from different perspectives. If you’ve ever been curious about how one thing can be viewed from so many points of view, then this exhibition is going to be a great conversation starter. The hope is to cultivate dialogue between communities through metaphorical, poetic and literal manifestations. So why not join the talk? Check out their event page for featured artists.

The Nomads Live @ Republic

Ever wondered what an upbeat, oriental rock version of some of your favorite tunes might sound like? Well, look no further because The Nomads are playing this Monday at ROE. Bringing their unique sound, all you’ll really need is to bring the energy to match. Enjoy this live music event, but make sure to reserve your spot in advance!

DJ Said Murad Live @ Republic
Thursday, April 13 @ 9:00 p.m. – 3:00 a.m. 

Republic is on fire this week with their events. If you couldn’t catch their Monday event, you’ll be happy to know they’re giving you a second chance this Thursday. Coming to Amman all the way from Beirut, Lebanese DJ Said Murad is going to be spinning his sick Arabian Electronic Rhythms, that are said to be able to lighten your soul. Hernan Cattaneo @ CLSTR

El Maestro himself is spinning this Thursday at CLSTR. That’s right, Hernan Cattaneo, coming all the way from Buenos Aires, is going to be in Amman and within reach. Bringing his own imprint, Sudbeat, Cattaneo will be gracing us with his groundbreaking progressive, house and techno beats. You’ll want to make sure you stick to real-time (not Arab-time) and be in queue because it’s first come first serve for this event of events at CLSTR!

Friday Rock Night @ Kegs – House of Ale

Are you ready to bring back the glory days of rock? Well, you’ve got some good company then, Tense N’ Tension will be rocking out this Friday at Kegs House of Ale! Famous for covering the greats (think Metallica, Scorpions, Eagles, Pink Floyd and all the other amazing rockers), as well as originals, Tense N’ Tension is the perfect outlet for your rock needs. Laila Sabbagh @ Maestro Restaurant & Bar

Are you in the mood for some old school Tarab? Singing the likes of Fairouz, Laila Sabbagh is going to take you back to a time when songs had meaning and zoning out was a pleasure. This live performance will be held at Maestro this Friday for a chilled-out night-out you won’t want to miss.

In the mood for some classical music? Pianist Ghadeer Abaido will be playing the beautiful melodies of Bach French suite no.2, Beethoven piano sonata op.2 no.2 and Liszt Waltz from Faust. She will also be accompanied by Rula Barghouthi on the Qanoon in one of the pieces. So join the fun, chill out vibes and cozy atmosphere this Wednesday and enjoy all the benefits that come with listening to classical music.

Award Winning Documentaries @ The Rainbow Theater

For all you documentary geeks out there, you’re in for a treat. The Royal Film Commission is hosting a 3 day docu-fest with screenings of ‘Award Winning Documentaries’ at The Rainbow Theaters! The screenings will be followed with discussions with producer Wael Kabbani. Not only do you get to watch some thought-provoking content, you get to talk about it with the producer himself afterwards! What better way to enjoy a good documentary?

Syrian Crisis and Creation @ Institut Français de Jordanie
Monday, April 10 @ 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.

We might be desensitized to the plight of our neighboring Syria, but directors Rana Kazkaz and Nawar Bulbul are bringing some important stories to light. With the short movie Mare Nostrum and documentary Love Boat, the directors tell us stories of those who fled, or attempted to flea the crisis by boat. Some survived, and some lost their lives. But their stories shall not be forgotten. Bonus: you’ll have a chance to debate the films with the directors themselves.
